Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
Rainfall last week was light and scattered across Argentina with some rain over the weekend across central and southern Buenos Aires and northern Entre Rios. The rains improved moisture where they fell, but the major growing areas are still dryer than normal. The rains this week will be confined to far northeastern Argentina which will allow dryness to expand. However, the 6-10 day forecast is calling for improved chances of rain across central Argentina.
Soybeans in Argentina were 20.1% planted as of late last week which represents an advancement of 12.2% for the week. In the core production areas, the soybeans are 35-40% planted with 10-20% planted in southern Argentina and 0% planted in far northern Argentina.
The Rosario Grain Exchange increased their soybean estimate from a range of 52-53 million tons to a range of 53.0 to 53.5 million tons.
